We began to collect usage statistics since March 28, 2009. The logging mechanism is simple: when TopBT is started, an empty package is sent to TopBT server. On the server, only IP addresses are recorded. Up until October 30, 2009, we have got a usage log revealing the following information:
During the 216 days, TopBT has been started 3385 times by unknown users from 976 unique IPs. These 976 unique IPs correspond to 447 locations in the world (see the map below). The actual usage should be more than recorded, since there are 2335 cumulative downloads on Sourceforge alone, and logging was not implemented from the start.
From October 25, 2009 to October 30, 2009, 33 new unique IPs has been logged. Besides, comparing with last update, the user map has 7 new locations in the world (see the map below).
On September 04, 2009, we began the file-downloading log, which recoreds users' downloading time and IP address after a file is downloaded.
From September 04, 2009 to October 30, 2009, 352 files have been downloaded by TopBT from 98 unique IPs corresponding to 45 locations in the world (see the map below).
